Server running

jj_backend is up.

You have a database, migrations, an admin, a REST API and an OpenAPI browser — wired and running. There are 3 shares.

What is already wired

ORM & models

Owner, Share and friends are declared in plugins/sharing/src/models.rs. Change them, then run makemigrations.

Migrations

Autodetected from your models. The declare → migrate → change → migrate loop is the whole product.

Admin

CRUD for every registered model at /admin/. Run createsuperuser to get in.

REST API

JSON CRUD + filtering for owner-scoped shares and comments (arrives with the sharing API).

Auth & sessions

Users, password hashing, sessions, CSRF. The endpoints are ours; the pages are yours.

Plugins

Everything above is a plugin. So is the app you are about to write — umbral startplugin blog.

next steps

  1. 1

    umbral startplugin blog

Add your first app — models, routes and templates of its own.

  2. 2

cargo run -- makemigrations && cargo run -- migrate

Declare a model, then let the engine write the schema.

  3. 3

    cargo run -- createsuperuser

    Then log in at /admin/.

Editing templates? Rebuild the CSS with cd styles && npm install && npm run build. Full guide: Your first app →
